Quick summary โ Piano Keyboards runs locally on your device. We don't operate user accounts, never see your real name, email, or precise location, and your practice data stays on your phone. The only information that leaves your device is anonymous analytics, crash diagnostics, and ad-network signals described below.
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how the Piano Keyboards mobile application ("Piano Keyboards", "the App", "we", "us", or "our") handles information when you install, open, or interact with the App. We are committed to building a music learning experience that respects your privacy by default. By installing or using Piano Keyboards, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this policy.
If you do not agree with any part of this Policy, please discontinue use of the App and remove it from your device.
2. Definitions
For clarity, the following terms are used throughout this policy:
- App โ the Piano Keyboards mobile application available on iOS.
- Device โ any iPhone or iPad on which the App is installed.
- Local Data โ files, settings, and recordings that are stored solely on your Device and never uploaded to our servers.
- Personal Data โ information that can directly identify an individual, such as a full name, postal address, or email address.
- Anonymous Data โ information that cannot reasonably be linked back to a specific person, such as aggregated usage metrics.
- Service Provider โ a third-party company that processes data on our behalf under a contractual data-processing agreement.
3. Information We Collect
3.1 Data stored only on your device
The following items live exclusively in the App's sandboxed storage on your Device. They are not transmitted to us:
- Your preferred instrument, volume, and playback settings.
- MIDI recordings of performances you choose to save.
- Cached instrument samples.
3.2 Anonymous data we receive
To improve the App, we rely on Service Providers that send us only aggregated or pseudonymous information:
- App open events, screen views, and feature interactions (Firebase Analytics).
- Device model, iOS version, language, and country-level region.
- Crash reports, including stack traces and device state at the moment of failure (Firebase Crashlytics).
- Ad impression and tap counters supplied by the ad network.
3.3 What we explicitly do not collect
Piano Keyboards does not request, log, or store the following at any time:
- Your real name, email address, phone number, or postal address.
- Precise GPS coordinates.
- Your contacts, photo library, or microphone audio recordings.
4. Third-Party Services
Some functionality is powered by trusted Service Providers. Each has its own privacy practices, which we recommend reviewing:
- Google Firebase โ Analytics, Crashlytics, and Cloud Messaging. See Firebase Privacy.
- Google AdMob โ serves the advertising shown inside the App. See Google Ad Policies.
We do not sell, rent, or trade information with parties beyond those required to operate and improve the App.
5. How We Use Data
The limited information we receive is used solely to:
- Diagnose crashes and fix bugs that affect your experience.
- Understand which features are popular so we know what to improve.
- Display, frequency-cap, and measure the effectiveness of advertising.
- Comply with applicable legal obligations.
We do not run profiling, automated decision-making, or any process that would have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
6. Advertising
Piano Keyboards displays advertisements supplied by Google AdMob. Ads are selected based on broad device signals and, where you have granted Apple's App Tracking Transparency permission, optionally on personalized advertising identifiers.
You can disable personalized advertising at any time:
- Open the iOS Settings โ Privacy & Security โ Tracking menu and toggle Piano Keyboards off.
- Or enable Limit Ad Tracking under Settings โ Privacy & Security โ Apple Advertising.
Disabling personalized advertising does not remove ads, but it ensures they are served using only non-identifying contextual signals.
7. Data Retention
Local Data persists on your Device until you delete the App or clear it from within the App's settings. Anonymous diagnostic and analytics data held by our Service Providers is retained according to their respective retention schedules โ typically 14 to 60 days for raw events and up to 14 months for aggregated reports.
Removing the App from your Device permanently deletes all Local Data we created. There is no separate "delete account" step because no account exists.
8. Data Security
We take reasonable, industry-standard measures to protect the limited information we handle:
- Sensitive on-device files are stored inside the App's iOS sandbox, which prevents access from other apps.
- All network traffic between the App and our Service Providers is sent over TLS 1.2 or higher.
- We follow the principle of least privilege when accessing analytics dashboards.
No internet-connected system can be guaranteed completely secure. If we become aware of a breach that affects you, we will notify users in-app and through the support channels listed below.
9. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have one or more of the following rights under laws such as the GDPR (Europe), CCPA (California), or other regional regulations:
- The right to access information held about you.
- The right to request correction or deletion of that information.
- The right to object to or restrict certain types of processing.
- The right to opt out of personalized advertising.
- The right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
Because Piano Keyboards does not collect identifying information, we usually cannot tie a specific request to a specific person. The most reliable way to exercise these rights is to uninstall the App, which removes all Local Data, and to disable personalized advertising on your Device as described in Section 6.
10. Children's Privacy
Piano Keyboards is suitable for general audiences and contains no content directed specifically at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect Personal Data from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided information to us, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
11. External Links
The Piano Keyboards app does not contain outbound links to third-party websites, social-media pages, or external content. Any references on this Privacy Policy page that point to third-party documents are listed here on the website only, for transparency about the Service Providers we work with.
12. Policy Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App, legal requirements, or our practices. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the most recent revisions took effect. Material changes will be highlighted within the App. Continued use of Piano Keyboards after a revision constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
